Laborup and a well-established manufacturer seek an experienced CNC Setup Machinist for the second shift. You will independently set up and operate CNC mills and lathes, read blueprints, select tooling, and prove out programs to meet tight tolerances.

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years of CNC machining experience.
• Strong hands-on CNC setup experience with mills and/or lathes.
• Ability to independently read blueprints and work to tight tolerances.
• Experience selecting tooling, setting offsets, and proving out setups.
• Proficiency with precision measuring instruments.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability.
• CNC programming or machine-side editing experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Independently set up and operate CNC mills, lathes, and machining centers.
• Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and setup instructions.
• Select tooling, fixtures, and workholding equipment.
• Establish tool offsets, work offsets, and machine reference points.
• Perform program prove-outs, first-piece inspections, and in-process quality checks.
• Machine complex components to tight engineering tolerances.
• Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and dimensional issues.
• Inspect finished components using micrometers, calipers, indicators, and precision gauges.
• Make machine-side adjustments to maintain quality and production efficiency.
