Job summary

Laborup in New York is seeking skilled CNC Set Up Machinists to join a stable, growing manufacturing team. You will own setup and operation of high‑mix, low‑volume runs on 5‑axis mills, mill‑turns, Swiss lathes, grinders and Wire EDM in a true high‑precision environment.

The role requires independent setups, first article inspections, and strict tolerances with strong blueprint reading. In addition to competitive pay of $26–$32 per hour, overtime, a 2nd shift differential, and comprehensive

Qualifications

• 3+ years of CNC machining experience (Turning, Milling, or Swiss).
• Setups: Proven ability to perform independent machine setups.
• Strong blueprint reading skills and the ability to interpret complex tolerances.
• Proven ability to hold extremely tight tolerances and perform first article inspections.

Responsibilities

• Setup & Operation: Perform independent, from-scratch setups on advanced CNC equipment in a high-mix, low-volume environment.
• Precision Inspection: Conduct first article inspections and monitor in-process using micrometers, calipers, gauges.
• Tooling & Offsets: Adjust tool offsets, change tools, and ensure calibration for part accuracy.
• Process Ownership: Read blueprints and job orders to ensure parts meet customer specifications.
• Documentation: Follow procedures for tagging, inspection, and production documentation.
• Maintenance & Safety: Maintain a clean, safe workstation and adhere to lean manufacturing policies.
