Job summary

Jobot is seeking an experienced CNC leader in Portland, CT, to supervise a team of machinists on a fast-paced shop floor. The role combines hands-on machining with daily leadership responsibilities to ensure high-quality, on-time production.

The candidate will perform setups, read blueprints, and apply GD&T; mentor team members, and uphold strict dimensional controls with micrometers, calipers and indicators. A strong safety and quality culture is required.

Qualifications

• Multiple years of CNC machining experience with setup duties.
• Experience mentoring or leading machinists or shop personnel.
• Strong blueprint-reading skills and GD&T understanding.
• Proficient with micrometers, calipers and inspection indicators.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support a team of 10–15 machinists on the production floor.
• Perform machine setups and assist with troubleshooting to maintain workflow.
• Interpret drawings, specs and process requirements to guide production.
• Ensure parts meet dimensional specs using precision tools.
• Promote a culture of quality, safety and continuous improvement.
• Monitor production performance and drive process consistency and output.

What You'll Do

What We're Looking For

• Several years of CNC machining experience, including setup responsibilities
• Prior experience mentoring, training, or leading shop personnel
• Comfortable working with tight tolerances and highly detailed components
• Ability to read blueprints and apply geometric tolerancing concepts
• Strong understanding of inspection equipment (micrometers, calipers, indicators, etc.)
• Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on accuracy and craftsmanship
