Job summary

Tecnadyne in San Diego, CA, seeks a skilled CNC Set-up Technician for a full-time on-site role. You will set up and operate CNC mills and lathes, install fixtures, load programs, and verify dimensions through first-article inspections, ensuring output meets specifications. You will collaborate with engineers and Quality to sustain production and quality goals.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years CNC setup experience, Haas machines, and the ability to read GD&T; lift up to 50 lbs; work safely.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years CNC setup experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience with Haas CNC machines.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T.
• Experience setting up CNC mills and lathes.
• Proficiency using precision measuring instruments, including micrometers, calipers and bore gauges.
• Strong understanding of machining practices, tooling selection, feeds and speeds.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Set up CNC mills, lathes, and other machining equipment per setup sheets and blueprints.
• Install fixtures, vises, chucks, tooling, and workholding devices.
• Load and verify CNC programs, tool offsets, and work offsets.
• Perform first-article inspections and adjust machines to meet specs.
• Read engineering drawings, GD&T, and process documents.
• Select, assemble, preset, and measure cutting tools.
• Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and quality issues.
• Optimize setup methods and cycle times to improve efficiency.
• Verify material type and dimensions prior to production.
• Collaborate with Quality to ensure requirements are met.
• Train CNC operators on setup requirements and inspection methods.
• Monitor tool life and recommend improvements.
• Maintain setup documentation and production records.
• Follow safety procedures and keep a clean workspace.
• Assist with preventive maintenance activities as required.
