CNC Service Technician

Position Summary:

This role is within the Facilities Department, focusing on maintenance of CNC equipment, supporting preventative maintenance systems, and implementing continuous improvement activities to support manufacturing. The CNC Service Technician reports to the Machine Maintenance Manager and works collaboratively with various teams to support manufacturing and internal customers. This is a hands-on position.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Diagnose, repair, predict, and prevent equipment failures to minimize downtime.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and contribute to developing the preventative maintenance program.
  • Install and repair hydraulic, coolant, or air systems related to the machines.
  • Repair or replace gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and other machine components.
  • Manage multiple projects in a dynamic environment.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical failures effectively.
  • Follow safety practices, protocols, and wear proper PPE.
  • Maintain knowledge of CNC controls, drives, and electrical power distribution.
  • Support continuous improvement and work with vendors and contractors as needed.
Education and Experience:
  • 5-7 years of maintenance experience on CNC equipment.
  • High School Diploma; technical or college diploma a plus.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and good communication skills.
  • Experience with CNC mills, lathes, mill-turns, and related machinery.
  • Knowledge of automatic tool changers, pallet systems, spindle repairs, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings, electronic troubleshooting, and familiarity with PLC controls like Fanuc and Siemens.
  • Knowledge of electrical systems (220/480V), predictive maintenance, vibration analysis, etc.
Working Conditions:
  • Lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Wear PPE in designated areas.
  • Stand for long periods, work on ladders, in dusty or wet conditions, possibly outdoors or in confined spaces.
  • Respond to emergencies 24/7.
