Job summary

Professional Plastics is seeking a skilled CNC Panel Saw Operator to set up and run a panel saw, reading blueprints and job orders to meet exact specifications.

You will position and secure workpieces, adjust feeds and speeds, and verify conformance with tolerances. Forklift certification is required, and the role includes operating additional shop equipment as needed.

Qualifications

  • Reads blueprints or job orders for specs and tolerances.
  • Selects and positions saw blades and fixtures.
  • Operates the CNC panel saw with proper feeds and speeds.
  • Ensures safety and uses PPE.
  • Forklift certification is required.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC panel saw to cut material to spec.
  • Read blueprints and job orders to plan operations.
  • Position and secure workpieces and fixtures.
  • Adjust feeds, speeds, and depth of cut per instructions.
  • Inspect machined parts for conformance to tolerances.
  • Operate other shop equipment as needed.

Job description

Position Summary

Sets up and operates CNC panel saw in order to cut material to its required finished product.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Reads blueprint or job order for product specifications such as dimensions and tolerances, and tooling instructions such as fixtures, feed rates, cutting speed; depth of cut, and determines sequence of operations.
  • Selects, positions, and secures saw blades, etc.
  • Positions and secures work piece I holding device, machine table, chuck, centers, or fixtures.
  • Moves controls to position tool and work piece in relation to each other, and to set specified feeds, speeds, and depth of cut.
  • Sets up fixture of feeding device, starts machine, and turns on hand wheel to feed tool to work piece or vice versa, and engages feed.
  • Turns valve handle to direct flow of coolant or cutting oil against tool and work piece.
  • Observes operation of machine and verifies conformance of machined work piece to specifications.
  • Operates bench grinder to sharpen tools.
  • Sets up and operates machines and equipment other than machine tools such as welding machines and flame-cutting equipment.
Education and Experience
  • CNC machine certification a plus
  • Must be forklift certified
  • 3-6 months experience using a CNC panel saw
