Job summary

EK Machine is seeking a skilled Saw Operator in Wisconsin to set up and operate a band saw, read blueprints, and verify dimensions against tolerances. You will secure workpieces, manage coolant flow, and document inspection results while maintaining inventory and performing routine maintenance.

Qualifications

  • Reads blueprint and job order for product specifications and tooling instructions.
  • Sets up and operates saw with fixtures, feed rates, and clamping pressure.
  • Inspects machined parts using precision measuring tools and records data.
  • Maintains inventory of raw materials and material locations.
  • Performs periodic preventive maintenance on machines and reports issues.

Responsibilities

  • Positions and secures workpiece in saw vises.
  • Maintains coolant flow against blade and workpiece.
  • Observes machine operation and verifies conformance to specs.
  • Sets up and operates the saw.
  • Issues raw materials to jobs and tracks inventory.
  • Inspects parts using precision measuring tools and records data.
  • Performs preventive maintenance on assigned machines.
  • Loads/unloads materials within CNC Department as needed.
  • Keeps work area clean and organized.

Job description

SUMMARY Sets up and operates saw to cut materials to required length or shape by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Reads blueprint and job order for product specifications such as dimensions and tolerances, and tooling instructions such as fixtures, feed rates, cutting speeds, band speed, clamping pressure, and special instructions.
  • Positions and secures workpiece in saw vises.
  • Maintains direct flow of coolant against saw blade and work piece.
  • Observes operation of machine and verifies conformance of machined workpiece to specifications.
  • Sets up and operates saw.
  • Issues raw materials to jobs and maintains accurate inventory and location of raw materials.
  • Inspects parts using precision measuring equipment and documents inspection data.
  • Performs periodic preventative maintenance to assigned machines and notifies supervisor or manager of any problems with assigned machines.
  • Loads, unloads, and moves materials within the CNC Department when needed.
  • Cleans and organizes work area.
