Job summary

Socket.dev, a growing US manufacturer, seeks an experienced CNC Machinist (Setup & Operator) for the afternoon shift. You will program, set up, operate, and troubleshoot CNC equipment to produce precision components while maintaining quality and safety.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years of CNC experience, strong GD&T interpretation, and proven ability to work independently, troubleshoot issues, and drive continuous improvements in a custom shop environment.

Qualifications

Minimum 5 years of CNC machining experience.
Demonstrated experience with CNC programming, machine setup, and operation.
Strong experience with CNC Milling and CNC Turning.
Experience with Horizontal Milling and Vertical Boring Mills (VBM) is an asset.
Ability to interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T.
Strong understanding of feeds, speeds, tooling selection, and machining practices.
Excellent knowledge of precision measuring equipment and metrology.
Experience selecting and installing tooling, fixtures, and workholding systems.
Conventional machining experience is an asset.
Technical college diploma or equivalent machining experience.

Responsibilities

Program CNC machines to manufacture precision components.
Perform complete machine setups, including tooling, fixtures, offsets, and workholding.
Set up and operate CNC Mills, CNC Lathes, Horizontal Mills, and Vertical Boring Mills (VBM).
Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T, and machining specifications.
Develop efficient machining methods to maximize productivity while maintaining quality.
Select cutting tools, fixtures, and machining strategies appropriate for each job.
Inspect completed parts using precision measuring equipment including micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, height gauges, and other metrology equipment.
Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and programming issues.
Work closely with Engineering, Quality, Production Control, and Supervisors to resolve manufacturing challenges.
Perform routine preventative maintenance and basic machine care.
Complete inspection documentation and production records.
Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in machining processes.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
Follow all company safety policies, ISO Quality procedures, and environmental standards.
