We are seeking an experienced CNC Programmer / Quality Technician to join our manufacturing team. The primary focus of this position is creating, optimizing, and maintaining CNC programs using Mastercam for Haas CNC machining centers and supporting CNC operators throughout setup and production.
The secondary focus of the position is supporting quality assurance through dimensional inspection and CMM programming using PC-DMIS. The ideal candidate has a strong background in CNC programming and manufacturing processes, along with the ability to inspect precision components and develop reliable CMM inspection programs.
Key Responsibilities
Primary Focus: CNC Programming and Manufacturing Support
- Create, optimize, and maintain CNC programs using Mastercam for Haas CNC mills, Haas CNC lathes, and Wire EDM equipment.
- Select appropriate tooling, workholding, cutting parameters, and machining sequences for new and existing components.
- Provide programming and technical support to CNC operators.
- Troubleshoot machining and programming issues and revise programs to improve process reliability and part quality.
- Review engineering drawings, CAD models, and specifications to determine effective manufacturing methods.
- Collaborate with engineering and production personnel to improve part manufacturability and machining processes.
- Assist with the design and development of fixtures and workholding solutions for prototype and production components.
- Maintain organized CNC program files, setup documentation, tooling information, and revision records.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to machining efficiency, quality, and standardization.
Secondary Focus: Quality and CMM Inspection
- Create, edit, and operate CMM inspection programs using PC-DMIS.
- Perform first article, in-process, and final dimensional inspections.
- Interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, tolerances, and GD&T requirements.
- Generate inspection reports and accurately document measurement results.
- Identify and document nonconforming components and communicate findings to Engineering and Production.
- Assist with resolving dimensional issues and implementing corrective actions.
- Maintain inspection records and follow established company quality procedures.
- Verify that inspection equipment is properly maintained and within its required calibration period.
Skills and Experience
- At least three years of CNC programming experience in a precision manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency with Mastercam programming software.
- Experience programming Haas CNC mills and lathes.
- Experience supporting CNC machine setup.
- Experience programming and operating CMM equipment using PC-DMIS.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and GD&T.
- Strong understanding of machining processes, tooling, cutting parameters, workholding, and manufacturing methods.
- Experience using precision measuring and inspection equipment.
- Familiarity with Wire EDM programming and operation is beneficial.
- Experience with prototype, custom, or low-volume precision manufacturing is beneficial.
- Familiarity with CAD software, fixture design, or quality management systems is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage changing priorities and work effectively with Engineering, Production, and Quality personnel.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical education or certification is preferred.
