Job summary

Jobot is seeking a skilled CNC Programmer in San Diego to develop and optimize programs for mills and lathes. You will create efficient machining strategies for prototype and low-volume parts, select tools and speeds, and generate setup sheets for machinists.

Ideal candidates have 3–5 years of CNC programming experience, strong CAD/CAM knowledge, and the ability to read complex blueprints with GD&T. This full-time role offers engaging projects in a high-mix shop environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required; an associate degree, technical diploma, apprenticeship, or CNC programming certification is preferred.
• Minimum 3–5 years of CNC programming experience in precision manufacturing.
• Experience programming CNC mills and/or CNC lathes from drawings and CAD models.
• Strong CAD/CAM experience; exact software platform to be confirmed with the client.
• Experience in a fast-paced, high-mix, low-volume job shop is strongly preferred.
• Ability to read complex blueprints, tolerances, and GD&T.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize CNC programs for mills and/or lathes using drawings, CAD models, and specifications.
• Create safe and efficient machining strategies for prototype, one-off, and low-volume components.
• Select cutting tools, feeds, speeds, workholding, and sequences based on geometry and material.
• Generate and validate toolpaths using CAD/CAM platform.
• Produce setup sheets, tooling lists, and operator instructions.
• Review drawings for dimensions, tolerances, and manufacturability concerns.
• Perform program prove-outs and support first-article production at the machine.
• Troubleshoot dimensional, finish, tooling, and cycle-time issues.
