Job summary

Actalent in Damascus, VA is seeking a skilled CNC Programmer to develop and optimize CNC programs, troubleshoot machining issues, and drive process improvements in a fast‑paced machine shop. You will interpret drawings, validate tooling, and collaborate with production teams to meet tight production requirements and quality standards.

The role requires experience with Fanuc, Fadal, Haas, Mazatrol controls, CAM software, GD&T, and lean manufacturing principles.

Qualifications

• Experience programming and troubleshooting CNC machines (Fanuc/Fadal/Haas/Mazatrol).
• Strong understanding of machining processes, tooling, fixtures, metrology, GD&T, and blueprint interpretation.
• Proficiency with CAM software and the ability to review 3D models, drawings, and CNC programs.
• Analytical and problem‑solving skills to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement methodologies.
• Effective project management and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong mathematical aptitude including geometry, trigonometry and dimensional analysis.
• Ability to interpret engineering instructions and manufacturing specifications.
• Excellent communication and collaboration in a production environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support for machine shop operations, incl. CNC machines, tooling, workholding fixtures, programming, metrology, and troubleshooting.
• Develop, modify, and optimize CNC programs for Fanuc, Fadal, Haas, and Mazatrol controls.
• Analyze production workflows, equipment layouts, and processes to improve efficiency and productivity.
• Support new product launches by ensuring tooling readiness and validating machining processes.
• Assist with selecting, specifying, and implementing manufacturing equipment and machinery.
• Design and improve processes, tooling, fixtures, and workholding to reduce costs and setup times.
• Partner with production teams to implement continuous improvement and lean practices.
• Manage projects from concept through implementation to meet timelines and production needs.
