Job summary

Oldcastle APG in Utah seeks a skilled CNC Programmer to develop and optimize CNC and Wire EDM programs for high-quality metal components. You will translate engineering drawings into precise machine instructions, set up tooling, and partner with engineering and maintenance to sustain production efficiency.

Qualifications

• Proven experience programming CNC machinery such as Fanuc controls, CNC milling, lathes, or 5-axis CNC machines.
• Strong knowledge of CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA) for engineering design and schematics interpretation.
• Familiarity with CAM software for generating tool paths and machining strategies.
• Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints with GD&T standards.
• Mechanical knowledge with experience in metal machining processes like electrical discharge machining (EDM) is preferred.
• Skilled in measuring parts with precision instruments and applying lean manufacturing principles.
• Excellent math skills for calculations of dimensions, feeds, speeds, and tolerances.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a noisy environment.

Responsibilities

• Program CNC and Wire EDM to create profiles for extrusion operations and maintenance.
• Develop, test, and refine CNC programs for lathes, mills, and 5-axis machines using CAD/CAM software.
• Interpret mechanical drawings to translate design specs into machine instructions.
• Set up tooling and fixtures with precise alignment using metrology equipment.
• Optimize processes applying lean manufacturing to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
• Troubleshoot programming issues to minimize downtime and maintain schedules.
• Conduct quality inspections to verify dimensional accuracy against specifications.
• Collaborate with engineering to improve tooling designs and machining parameters.
