Job summary

Orion Castings is seeking a skilled CNC Programmer to join our Cambridge Division in crafting precision aluminum, zinc, and magnesium die cast components. You will develop programs, optimize G-code, and set up Haas 3-axis mills and lathes, leveraging Mastercam to maximize efficiency.

Ideal candidates have 5 years of Mastercam experience, 5 years CNC setup/programming, and strong GD&T skills to ensure tight tolerances across diverse materials and complex geometries.

Qualifications

• Mastercam: 5 years experience is required.
• CNC 3-axis: 5 years experience preferred.
• CNC setup/programming: 5 years experience preferred.
• Familiarity with Hardinge Chucker Lathe, Bridgeport Knee Mill, ProtoTrak Bed Mill is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Program CNC machines using Mastercam; create, edit, and optimize G-code for efficiency.
• Set up and operate Haas 3-axis mills and lathes; perform tool length and offset conventions.
• Select tooling and strategies; compute speeds and feeds to optimize cycle time and tool life.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and GD&T requirements.
• Machine tight-tolerance components in ferrous, non-ferrous, and plastics.
