Salary Range: $23.50 Hourly

Job Shift: First Shift

Purpose of Position: To produce programs for our CNC routers, with setup sheets for our CNC Operators, while helping to meet or exceed company goals and KPIs.

Position Overview

Prestwick CNC Programmers are responsible for using CAM software to create programs for our 3-axis CNC routers. Programmers use multiple file types to produce parts to be machined and then nest and toolpath them for the routers. The Programmers must also update the Production Supervisor or Production Manager regarding any issues or needs that may arise during the process. The following are some of the expectations and responsibilities of this position.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Reviews provided information, prints, and programs the correct parts per requirements using the necessary/established steps.
  • Maintains the work area and organizes and stores tools, supplies, and materials in the assigned locations.
  • Communicates with leadership and other team members regarding problems, concerns, status, and improvement ideas.
  • Seeks to improve job knowledge.
  • Creates CNC Programs using CAM software
    • Imports DXF files from Engineering
    • Imports EPS files from Proofing
    • Nests parts on the material
    • Applies correct tools and paths
    • Exports code to our CNC routers
  • Produces digital and physical documentation and instructions for the CNC Operators.
  • Follows all safety requirements, work rules, and company policies.
  • Assists in all other operations departments as required.
This position is responsible for, but not limited to, all the tasks and duties listed above

Qualifications
  • 1+ year(s) of prior CNC Programming or Operating experience.
  • Has a superior understanding of technical drawings and bills of materials.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Demonstrates the ability to set up and operate CNC Routers.
  • Adept in our ERP and inventory systems.
  • Proficient in using Google products such as Gmail, Google Docs, and Google Sheets.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Stand, walk, sit, or bend for extended periods.
  • May be required to reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Ability to complete repetitive tasks.
  • Hand-eye coordination is necessary to operate computers and various pieces of office equipment.
  • Vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
  • Must wear personal protective equipment (PPE) when on the shop floor.
