Job summary

PTS Advance in Torrance, CA is seeking a CNC Programmer to support its engineering department by using CAD/CAM software to program 3 through 5 axis machine tools for aerospace metal parts.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years of CAD/CAM experience, CATIA knowledge, and a strong background in aerospace materials, speeds, and feeds. Collaboration with shop floor leadership will drive new product development and process improvements.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of CAD/CAM experience programming aerospace structural components.
• Experience with Vericut simulation and verification software.
• CATIA programming knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop programs for contour-path machining of metal parts on 3 to 5 axis machine tools.
• Program fixtures and develop drawings and bills of material for tooling (holding fixtures, drill jigs, form blocks, check fixtures).
• Analyze drawings, part design data and tooling methods to determine tool paths, cutting tool selection, speeds and feeds.
• Create setup documents, tool requirements and CNC programs; create fixture setup documents and planning outlines.
• Collaborate with shop floor leadership on new product development and operation sequencing.
• Drive continuous improvement of cutting methods to reduce cost and improve quality; suggest process or design changes to simplify tooling.
• Ensure conformance to established procedures, customer engineering requirements and specifications.

Our client, a leading aerospace manufacturer, is seeking a CNC Programmer to support its engineering department by using CAD/CAM software to program 3 through 5 axis machine tools for aerospace metal parts.

Responsibilities

• Use CATIA, MasterCam and Vericut to develop programs for contour-path machining of metal parts on 3 to 5 axis machine tools
• Use CAD/CAM software to program fixtures and develop drawings and bills of material for tooling (holding fixtures, drill jigs, form blocks, check fixtures)
• Analyze drawings, part design data and tooling methods to determine tool paths, cutting tool selection, speeds and feeds
• Create setup documents, tool requirements and CNC programs; create fixture setup documents and planning outlines
• Work with shop floor leadership and production on new product development and operation sequencing
• Drive continuous improvement of cutting methods to reduce cost and improve quality; suggest process or design changes to simplify tooling

Requirements

• 3+ years of CAD/CAM experience programming aerospace structural components from all types of metallic materials
• Experience with Vericut simulation and verification software
• CATIA programming knowledge (strongly preferred)
• Working knowledge of CNC machine controls and G-code; strong machining background with speeds and feeds for aerospace metals
• Ability to design and program fixtures and tooling
• Working knowledge of aerospace engineering models, drawings and specifications
• BS in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent work experience in programming and CNC machining
