Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced CNC Programmer to support machining operations for aerospace parts and tooling using numerically controlled machine tools. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with manual NC programming, multi-axis milling and CNC turning, CAM software, machining processes, and program optimization.
The candidate will work closely with manufacturing engineering, CNC programming teams, operations leadership, and external vendors to ensure dimensional accuracy, machining quality, and production efficiency.
Key Requirements
- Experience in CNC/NC programming, preferably in aerospace or precision manufacturing.
- Knowledge of manual CNC programming, including G-code and M-code.
- Experience with multi-axis machining, including 3-axis, 4-axis, and 5-axis mills and CNC lathes.
- Familiarity with mill-turn operations and CNC program editing, debugging, and optimization.
- Experience with CAM software such as TopSolid, Edgecam, CATIA, PartMaker, NCSIMUL, or APT; equivalent tools such as Mastercam, NX CAM, ESPRIT, GibbsCAM, or Vericut are acceptable.
- Knowledge of cutting tools, inserts, tooling selection, machining sequences, and appropriate speeds and feeds.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, dimensions, and tolerances.
- Knowledge of machine shop operations, setups, workholding, and manufacturing processes.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Trade school, associate degree, equivalent technical training, or relevant production experience preferred.
- Approximately two years of NC Programmer-level experience preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, modify, and maintain CNC/NC programs for multi-axis milling and turning operations.
- Perform manual NC programming and edit existing programs to meet machining requirements.
- Support machining of aerospace components, parts, and tooling.
- Select appropriate cutting tools, tooling parameters, speeds, feeds, and machining sequences.
- Review technical drawings and specifications to ensure dimensional accuracy and compliance.
- Conduct program prove-outs, troubleshoot machining issues, and prevent programming errors or machine collisions.
- Optimize CNC programs to improve cycle time, throughput, quality, and manufacturing efficiency.
- Collaborate with manufacturing engineering, operations teams, other CNC programmers, and vendors.
- Analyze production problems, determine root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
- Apply continuous improvement methods to reduce costs, improve processes, and increase productivity.
Preferred CAM Software
TopSolid, Edgecam, CATIA, PartMaker, NCSIMUL, APT, Mastercam, NX CAM, ESPRIT, GibbsCAM, and Vericut or equivalent platforms.
