Job summary

UPC Displays, a Madison, Wisconsin-based manufacturer of retail fixtures, seeks a CNC Programmer to design and optimize CNC programs for complex parts. You will interpret drawings, create and test G-code, select tooling, and collaborate with machinists and engineers to refine processes.

The role requires CAD/CAM proficiency, reading blueprints, and experience with CNC programming and machine tools. ERP familiarity is a plus, with a commitment to quality and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Associate's degree in CNC programming or related field.
  • Experience with programming and knowledge of electronics and machine tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret work orders and blueprints.
  • Experience with CAD software (Autocad, Solidworks).
  • ERP systems experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret drawings and CAD/CAM files to create CNC programs.
  • Develop and optimize G-code for multi-axis machining centers.
  • Select tooling and parameters to maximize efficiency and quality.
  • Collaborate with machinists and engineers to troubleshoot processes.
  • Perform first-quality inspections and adjust programs for tolerances.
  • Maintain CNC program libraries with version control.
  • Implement process improvements to reduce cycle times and costs.
  • Train operators on program execution and setup procedures.
  • Support new product introductions and prototypes.

POSITION: CNC Programmer

Position Summary
  • Interpret drawings, and CAD/CAM files to create precise CNC programs.
  • Develop, test, and optimize G-code for multi-axis machining centers.
  • Select appropriate tooling, fixtures, and cutting parameters to maximize efficiency and part quality.
  • Collaborate with machinists and engineers to troubleshoot machining issues and refine manufacturing processes.
  • Perform first-quality inspections and adjust programs to meet tight tolerances and quality standards.
  • Maintain and update CNC program libraries, ensuring version control and documentation accuracy.
  • Implement process improvements to reduce cycle times, scrap rates, and tooling costs.
  • Train and mentor operators on program execution, setup procedures, and best practices.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to support new product introductions and prototype development.
  • Must be able to setup and operate all equipment in CNC

Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate's degree in CNC programming, a computer-related field or a mechanical field.
  • Experience with programming and knowledge of electronics and machine tools is required.
  • Ability to use CAD software (Autocad, Solidworks)
  • Must be able to read and interpret work orders and blueprints
  • Experience with ERP Systems a plus
