Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate's degree in CNC Programming, a computer-related field, or a mechanical field preferred.
  • Experience with CNC programming and knowledge of machine tools and electronics.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work orders.
  • Experience setting up and operating CNC equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimize G-code programs for multi-axis machining centers.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and CAD/CAM files to create CNC programs.
  • Select tooling and fixtures to support machining operations.
  • Perform first-piece inspections and troubleshoot machining issues.

We are currently working with a family-owned manufacturing company seeking a CNC Programmer to join their Madison, WI location. Our client is a family-owned manufacturer, who is known for their strong culture and long-tenured workforce, that has been serving customers for nearly 50 years

What's the role?

The CNC Programmer is responsible for interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, and CAD/CAM files to create accurate CNC programs that support high-quality manufacturing operations. This role works closely with machinists, engineers, and cross-functional teams to develop, test, and optimize machining processes while ensuring efficiency, precision, and quality standards are met. In this role, you'll develop and optimize G-code programs for multi-axis machining centers, select appropriate tooling and fixtures, perform first-piece quality inspections, and troubleshoot machining issues. You'll also help improve manufacturing processes, reduce cycle times and scrap rates, maintain program documentation, and support new product introductions and prototype development. The ideal candidate enjoys solving technical challenges, thrives in a manufacturing environment, and takes pride in producing quality work.

What experience and skills do I need to be successful?
  • High school diploma or equivalent required

  • Experience working with ERP systems is a plus
