Job description

At Design and Production Incorporated (D&P), we don't just manufacture components — we help create immersive museum exhibits, exhibitions, and cultural experiences that engage audiences across the United States.

We're looking for a skilled CNC Programmer who combines technical precision, creative problem-solving, and a passion for fabrication.

If you enjoy turning complex designs into perfectly machined components, optimizing production processes, and working closely with talented designers and fabricators, this could be your next challenge.

The Opportunity

As our CNC Programmer, you'll play a key role in transforming detailed designs into high-quality, precision-manufactured components.

Working at the intersection of design, engineering, and fabrication, you'll develop and optimize CNC programs, maximize material efficiency, and support our production teams in bringing ambitious exhibit projects to life.

What You'll Do
  • Program & optimize: Develop, test, and refine 2D, 3D, and multi-axis CNC programs using Mastercam, including 4-axis toolpaths.
  • Turn designs into reality: Translate complex shop drawings, CAD models, and technical specifications into accurate machining instructions.
  • Work across materials: Select the right tooling, speeds, and feeds for wood, MDF, plywood, acrylic, aluminum, steel, and specialty materials.
  • Maximize efficiency: Optimize nesting layouts, material yield, machining strategies, and production cycle times.
  • Troubleshoot & improve: Run simulations, perform machine setups and dry runs, edit G-code, and resolve technical challenges directly on the shop floor.
  • Deliver precision: Verify dimensions, tolerances, and finished components to ensure exceptional quality.
  • Collaborate: Partner with our Detailing and Production teams to turn complex creative concepts into expertly fabricated exhibits.
What You'll Bring
  • 3–5+ years of experience in CNC programming or machining within a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
  • Strong proficiency in Mastercam (X9 or newer) and familiarity with AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor.
  • Experience programming and operating 3-, 4-, or 5-axis CNC routers and flat-table nesting equipment.
  • Confidence reading, writing, and modifying G-code.
  • Strong understanding of technical drawings, machining processes, material properties, and dimensional tolerances.
  • A hands-on mindset, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to solve problems independently.

Experience in exhibit fabrication, architectural millwork, custom cabinetry, or specialty manufacturing is a strong advantage.

Why D&P?

Because what you create here becomes part of something bigger.

At D&P, your expertise contributes to unique, custom-built environments that inspire, educate, and connect people.

You’ll work alongside multidisciplinary teams of designers, engineers, project managers, and skilled craftspeople on complex, one-of-a-kind projects.
