Job summary

Goodwin Recruiting is seeking a CNC Production Manager in Huntersville, NC to lead a two-shift machining operation and develop a high-performing team. This role balances hands-on shop floor work with scheduling, performance tracking and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Hands-on CNC machining background with mills, lathes, setup and programming.
• Experience supervising machining and production employees; ready for broader responsibilities.
• Experience with production scheduling, staffing, machine capacity, quality and on-time delivery.
• Experience working in an ISO manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and daily production use.
• Knowledge of manufacturing safety, KPIs, Lean principles, and 5S.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily CNC production across two shifts, balancing safety, quality, efficiency and on-time delivery.
• Manage and develop a team of ~15 production employees.
• Build production schedules and coordinate staffing, equipment and workflow to meet changing priorities.
• Provide hands-on machining support and partner with quality staff to resolve production issues.
• Delegate responsibilities, cross-train employees and document processes to build team capability.
• Monitor production KPIs and drive improvements in productivity, cost control and shop organization.
• Support ERP tool adoption (barcode scanning, workstation tablets) for real-time reporting.
• Assist in evaluating equipment needs and investments, supporting new machinery installations.
• Partner with leadership to expand capacity and build scalable processes.

CNC Production Manager Requirements & Qualifications

• Strong hands-on CNC machining background, including experience with mills, lathes, setup, and programming


• Previous supervision or management of machining and production employees; experienced supervisors ready for broader responsibility are encouraged to apply


• Experience with production scheduling, staffing, machine capacity, quality, and on-time delivery


• Experience working in an ISO manufacturing environment


• Computer proficiency and experience using ERP or MRP systems in daily production


• Working knowledge of manufacturing safety, production KPIs, Lean principles, and 5S


• A collaborative leadership style with demonstrated ability to delegate, train, mentor, and share technical knowledge


• Clear, honest communication and the ability to work effectively with shop-floor employees, office staff, customers, and company leadership


• Precision machining experience preferred


• Technical education or a Bachelors degree is a plus
