Job summary

Amsted Rail in Petersburg, VA is seeking a CNC Machining Line Operator to run and care for precision bearing production lines, translating specs into actions while maintaining quality, safety and uptime.

You will set up and adjust CNC programs, inspect parts with gauges, assist changeovers, monitor conveyors, record data, and support preventative maintenance. Night shift offers a $1.00 differential.

Qualifications

• Pre-employment drug and background screening required.
• Ability to lift, push and pull 10–50 lbs; stand and move throughout the department and shift.
• Comfort using PPE and following strict safety/quality procedures.
• Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn new processes.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain CNC machining lines for multiple ID/OD operations on metal workpieces.
• Follow safety, ergonomics, and environmental practices; wear PPE.
• Measure parts with gauges and verify conformance to specifications.
• Inspect for defects; ensure parts meet standards for customers and Amsted Rail.
• Assist setup personnel during changeovers; support machine/tooling adjustments.
• Troubleshoot equipment and tool wear; adjust settings as needed.
• Monitor conveyors and ensure proper flow of work.
• Record production data and understand sequences for finished parts.
• Perform preventative maintenance tasks as required.
