Job summary

Cleaver-Brooks is seeking a CNC Plasma Table Operator to program, set up, run, and fine‑tune a plasma cutting table for ASME code vessels. You will interpret blueprints, lay out components, and ensure parts are ready for test and final assembly.

Responsibilities include nesting parts, verifying cut quality, performing routine maintenance, and safely operating cranes to move material. A high school diploma or GED is preferred with blueprint literacy and 1–2 years of CNC experience.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred; technical trade training is a plus.
  • Strong reading, writing, and math abilities; blueprint literacy required.

  • Program, set up, and operate the CNC plasma table; load material and confirm specifications in the control software.
  • Locate, nest, and sequence parts; determine correct cut start points and verify cut quality.
  • Identify and cut plate per prints; adjust parameters and troubleshoot the plasma system as needed.
  • Perform routine maintenance on the plasma table to maintain uptime and quality.
  • Read and interpret blueprints; complete precise layout work for vessel components.
  • Operate overhead cranes; use scissor lifts and ladders safely to stage and move material.
  • Follow all safety procedures; meet safety, quality, and production goals.
  • Maintain 5S standards and practice Lean Manufacturing principles.

Role overview

As a CNC Plasma Table Operator, you will program, set up, run, fine‑tune, and troubleshoot a plasma cutting table to produce components for ASME code pressure vessels. You’ll interpret blueprints and perform accurate layouts, ensuring parts are ready for test, fit, and final assembly.

What you’ll do
  • Program, set up, and operate the CNC plasma table; load material and confirm specifications in the control software.
  • Locate, nest, and sequence parts; determine correct cut start points and verify cut quality.
  • Identify and cut plate per prints; adjust parameters and troubleshoot the plasma system as needed.
  • Perform routine maintenance on the plasma table to maintain uptime and quality.
  • Read and interpret blueprints; complete precise layout work for vessel components.
  • Operate overhead cranes; use scissor lifts and ladders safely to stage and move material.
  • Follow all safety procedures; meet safety, quality, and production goals.

  • Safely load and unload plate in and out of the table; handle parts to prevent damage.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the Team Leader or Supervisor.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED preferred; technical trade training is a plus.
  • Strong reading, writing, and math abilities; blueprint literacy required.
Experience
  • 1–2 years operating CNC machinery and related computer interfaces (e.g., CNC Tube Bender, CNC Drill, CNC Plasma Table, CNC Plate Roller).
  • Experience using overhead cranes.
