Job summary

Howmet is seeking an entry level machinist to operate machine tools and produce precision parts at our Tucson facility. The role involves studying blueprints, performing measurements with micrometers and calipers, and ensuring parts meet drawings and specifications.

The position requires attention to detail, strong communication, and the ability to stand for extended periods while performing tasks such as lifting 35-40 lbs and overhead reaching. On-site work with ITAR considerations applies.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • CNC experience preferred.
  • US work authorization required; visa sponsorship not available.

Responsibilities

  • Operate a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts.
  • Study samples, blueprints, drawings and engineering information to determine methods and sequence of operations for fabrication.
  • Measure, examine, and test completed units to detect defects.
  • Fabricate replacement and new parts for facility machinery.
  • Fabricate, erect, install, and maintain facility machinery.
  • Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on facility machinery.
  • Troubleshoot and repair facility machinery.
  • Produce, rework and repair various machine tooling within drawing and specification requirements.
  • Maintain, clean, and secure work area and tools.
  • Secure equipment when not in use.
  • Adhere to Howmet EH&S, Quality, Continuous Improvements, and other Company Policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

Weekend Shift hours: Friday - Sunday, 5:00 AM - 6:00 PM

  • Operate a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts.
  • Study sample parts, blueprints, drawings & engineering information to determine methods and sequence of operations for fabrication.
  • Measure, examine, and test completed units to detect defects.
  • Fabricate replacement and new parts for facility machinery.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution preferred.
  • CNC experience preferred.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
  • Entry level position. Attention to detail and strong communication skills are required. Previous experience within a manufacturing environment is desired or a background working with machinery. Preference for previous hands‑on experience using measuring tools such as micrometers and calipers and reading blueprints.
  • This position will physically require the incumbent to perform duties standing, walking, overhead reaching, lifting (35-40 lbs), pushing and pulling totes, and leaning over machines, all equally on a regular basis.
