Job summary

Eberhard Manufacturing Company in Strongsville, OH, seeks a CNC Operator/Programmer to set up and run CNC machines in a work cell, write programs in BobCad, and ensure parts meet prints. Train across CNC, laser, and brake press operations, move materials, and help improve department efficiency while following 5S lean principles.

Responsibilities include operating CNC Lathe/Mill, Laser, and Brake Press, performing quality checks, and maintaining safe, efficient operations.

CNC Operator/Programmer

Job Responsibilities:

• Help other employees in department grow
• Set up and operate CNC Machine(s) in a work cell environment.
• Adjust as required on CNC Machine Control to conform to all quality and print specifications and instructions given with each work order.
• Move Store and Load machines with material and associated tooling within or required for the work cell.
• Produce samples for engineering or short run production as required.
• Write programs using BobCad or equivalent.
• All CNC, Laser, Brake Press Operators Cross Train on all machines

Essential Functions:

BRAKE PRESS OPERATOR

• Feeds metal parts into the machine for a specific bend to be placed in it

LASER PROGRAMMER

• Programs the Laser for specifics of part cutting

LASER OPERATOR

• Loads metal sheets and removes skeletons once cuts are completed
• Cleans scrap area

CNC LATHE / MILL

• Add coolant into CNC Mill & Lathe machine at beginning of shift
• Cuts bars to specifics for job
• Loads bars into lathers for cutting

Supplemental Functions:

• Oversee department jobs, to make sure they are running in the most efficient way.
• Maintain and monitor machine performance as instructed and perform regular scheduled preventive maintenance that is assigned to the operator.
• Inspect all work to ensure conformance to all specifications.
• Maintain a clean safe and efficient department by following 5S lean principles as a daily part of job performance (Sort, Simplify, Shine, Standardize and Sustain)
• Always look for other jobs in the shop that will help department grow (what can we run on the CNC equipment)

Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Must have good knowledge of all cutting tools and their capabilities (where to use and why)
• Operator will be trained on Processing Machines. Training will be done on any new equipment such as a future CNC Machine used in machining parts.
• Operator must have a good working knowledge of CNC Control operation to make necessary adjustments to setup and maintain machines in a safe and efficient manner.
• Operator must be qualified to operate material handling equipment such as a lift truck and hoist to move and store materials within or needed for work cell operation.
• Operator must be able to read and understand prints and quality specifications and use measuring devices to measure and ensure conformance to specifications

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Understanding of difference in materials used in manufacturing
• Willingness to make useful suggestions and grow department
• Set up and operate CNC Machine in a work cell environment.
• High School Graduate with 2 years CNC machining
• 2 years experience in operating a CNC Machine desired
• Any machining or training school certificates demonstrating proficiency desired
• 2 years experience in CNC Programming
• Contour Cam, BobCad or Equivalent Software experience required
