Job summary

Formative 3D is seeking a CNC Operator in Falls Church, VA to support post‑processing of large‑format 3D‑printed furniture components and fabricate fixtures and jigs that streamline production.

You will operate 3‑axis CNC routers and 6‑axis robotic milling machines, interpret drawings, and contribute to continuous improvements in efficiency and quality within a fast‑paced shop environment.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience operating CNC milling machines in a production or prototyping environment.
• Ability to read technical drawings and use measurement tools such as calipers and micrometers.
• Familiarity with G-code, CAM software, and Fusion 360.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
• Comfort lifting up to 50 lbs and hands-on shop work.

Responsibilities

• Operate 3-axis CNC routers and 6-axis robotic milling machines to post-process 3D-printed components and produce fixtures and jigs.
• Interpret technical drawings and CAD files to set up and execute milling operations.
• Perform post-processing tasks on printed parts, including trimming, sanding, and surface finishing.
• Inspect machined and printed parts for dimensional accuracy and quality standards.
• Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot CNC equipment and tooling.
• Collaborate with engineering and production teams to improve fixture design and workflow efficiency.
• Assist with general shop duties, including material preparation, organization, and equipment upkeep.
