Job summary

Timken is hiring a Machine Operator in Kentucky to turn raw materials into high-quality anti-friction bearings. You will set up, operate, and troubleshoot diverse production equipment, ensuring on-time quality and process improvements in a climate-controlled plant.

The role includes measurement with calipers and micrometers, logging events in plant systems, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to support continuous improvement and training of new staff.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED required.

Responsibilities

• Set up, change over, and operate a variety of production equipment including ring rolling, turning, heat treating, grinding, and assembly (many CNC-controlled).
• Perform basic measurements of bearing geometry using digital calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, and related tooling.
• Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance to avoid equipment issues; troubleshoot and assist in rebuilding equipment or sub-assemblies.
• Use plant information systems to interpret work queues, track material needs, and log production events accurately.
• Operate material handling equipment such as forklift trucks and pallet lifts to move in-process materials safely.
• Apply process control tools (X-bar/R charts, histograms, Pareto) to monitor quality and promptly address out-of-control conditions.
• Understand internal and external customer requirements and ensure only conforming products advance.
• Participate in plant-wide continuous improvement teams and help train new operators.
