Job summary

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints, process sheets, and drawings to determine machining requirements and setup.
  • Set up and operate CNC machines and related tools in the work cell.
  • Mount, align, and secure tooling, fixtures, and workpieces.
  • Load CNC programs and retrieve instructions from the controller/database.
  • Monitor machine operation and adjust feeds, speeds, and offsets for accuracy.
  • Inspect first-piece and in-process parts using precision measuring equipment (micrometers, calipers, indicators, CMMs).
  • Troubleshoot machining issues and adjust as needed to meet quality standards.
  • Collaborate with supervisors, programmers and engineers to resolve issues and optimize programs.
  • Assist with CNC programming/proving-out and optimize existing programs.
  • Maintain clean, safe, organized work areas and meet production schedules.

This position is responsible for setting up, operating, monitoring, and optimizing CNC machine tools to produce precision components that meet strict quality and production standards. The ideal candidate has experience reading blueprints, using precision measuring equipment, troubleshooting machining issues, and maintaining a safe, organized work environment.This role offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative manufacturing environment focused on quality, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.---## Essential Responsibilities* Read and interpret blueprints, process sheets, engineering drawings, and work instructions to determine machining requirements, specifications, and setup procedures.* Set up and operate CNC machines and other machine tools within an assigned work cell.* Mount, align, and secure tooling, fixtures, attachments, and workpieces.* Install preset tooling into tool posts, turrets, indexing heads, and automatic tool changers.* Load CNC programs and retrieve machining instructions from the machine controller or database.* Monitor machine operation and control displays to ensure proper performance and detect malfunctions.* Adjust machine controls, feeds, speeds, and offsets to maintain dimensional accuracy and optimize machining performance.* Inspect first-piece and in-process parts using precision measuring equipment including: + Micrometers + Calipers + Indicators + Verniers + Gauges + Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) + Other electronic inspection equipment* Perform Statistical Process Control (SPC) studies and assist with machine capability studies.* Troubleshoot machining issues and make necessary adjustments to maintain quality standards.* Collaborate with supervisors, programmers, and engineers to resolve machining or programming concerns.* Assist with CNC programming, prove-out of new programs, and optimization of existing machining programs.* Prepare materials and organize upcoming jobs during machine cycle time to reduce setup and changeover time.* Perform assembly, testing, and other work cell operations as needed.* Train and support machine attendants and less experienced operators.* Perform routine machine maintenance and maintain tooling in proper working condition.* Keep machines, tooling, and work areas clean, organized, and safe.* Meet or exceed production schedules while maintaining high quality standards.* Support continuous improvement initiatives that increase efficiency, quality, and safety.* Perform other duties as assigned.## Qualifications## Qualifications### Required Education & Experience* High School Diploma or GED required.* One (1) to three (3) years of CNC machining or related manufacturing experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.---## Preferred Qualifications* Experience operating multiple CNC machine tools.* Ability to interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.* Experience using CMMs and precision measuring instruments.* Familiarity with SPC methodologies and quality documentation.* Experience troubleshooting machining processes and making machine adjustments.* Previous experience assisting with CNC programming or program optimization is a plus.* Experience working in a lean manufacturing environment.---## Knowledge, Skills & Abilities* Ability to read and interpret blueprints, process sheets, and technical drawings.* Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.* Proficiency with precision measuring instruments.* Ability to maintain close tolerances and produce high-quality components.* Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.* Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple tasks efficiently.* Good communication and teamwork skills.* Basic computer skills for machine controls and production systems.* Commitment to workplace safety and continuous improvement.
