Accelera in Utica, MI is seeking a CNC Operator for our automotive manufacturing line. The role is contract-to-hire with an initial rate of $18.00 per hour. You will operate CNC machining centers, configure machines, and perform tooling and setup activities to ensure consistent production and quality.

Qualifications

• High school or equivalent required.
• Approx. 2 years of automotive manufacturing experience preferred.
• Ability to interpret CNC programs and machine instructions.
• Experience with CNC setups and precise tooling adjustments.
• Proficiency with calipers and measurement tools.
• Familiarity with SAP handheld scanners and basic office tools.
• Awareness of IATF 16949, ISO 14001 and Q1 compliance.
• Able to work independently or in a team.
• Commitment to quality, safety and production targets.

Responsibilities

• Operate CNC machining centers and manage shop floor activities.

Job description

We are currently looking for a skilled CNC Operator to join our automotive manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing CNC machining centers, handling machine configurations, conducting quality inspections, resolving equipment issues, and documenting production data.

This position is offered as a contract-to-hire role. You will begin at a rate of $18.00 per hour during the initial contract phase. Once the contract concludes, your performance and technical abilities will be assessed to determine your potential for a salary increase.

Core Responsibilities

• Manage operations across various CNC machining centers.
• Configure machine settings and install necessary fixtures to ensure production readiness.
• Perform machine setups and tooling repairs to help maintain consistent output within your assigned cell.
• Verify first-piece production and refine tool settings to ensure parts meet all dimensional standards.
• Manually load and unload tools as required by the production process.
• Conduct quality inspections on finished parts to ensure they meet established standards.
• Notify the Team Leader or Supervisor immediately regarding any identified quality defects.
• Maintain accurate production records, including PPLH, TAKT, scrap reports, and other essential documentation.
• Embrace and champion Lean Manufacturing methodologies to improve overall efficiency.
• Contribute to the success of the team by participating in Elimination of Waste meetings.
• Help the organization reach its broader production goals and operational objectives.
• Diagnose CNC equipment issues and perform necessary mechanical adjustments.
• Modify robot positioning using a teach pendant to ensure operational precision.

Required Qualifications

• Completion of High School or equivalent education.
• Approximately two years of experience within an automotive manufacturing setting is preferred.
• Practical understanding of CNC machining processes and basic troubleshooting techniques.
• Proven ability to handle CNC machine setups and make precise tooling adjustments.
• Capacity to interpret and execute CNC programs and technical machine instructions.
• Experience utilizing calipers and other measurement tools to verify part quality.
• Proficiency in using workplace tools such as SAP handheld scanners, calculators, printers, and calipers.
• Familiarity with IATF 16949, ISO 14001, and Q1 compliance standards.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as a collaborative team member.
• Strong focus on maintaining high standards for quality, safety, and production output.

This role is based on-site at our automotive manufacturing plant. You will be stationed within a production cell, where your primary duties will involve the operation and upkeep of CNC machinery, monitoring part quality, adjusting tools, and ensuring daily production targets are met.
