Description

POSITION OVERVIEW

The CNC Machine Operator performs typical machine shop duties associated with the proper set-up and operation of CNC equipment to produce precision-machined components to print. Working under the direction of the Machine Shop Manager, the operator performs milling, turning, drilling, and related bench operations while inspecting parts and maintaining equipment in accordance with Platinum Engineering's AS9100D and ISO9001:2015 Quality Management System (QM-001). The role is essential to the on-time delivery of conforming components for the aerospace and defense industries.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Machine Operation & Set-Up
  • Operate CNC equipment to perform milling, turning, drilling, tapping, de-burring, and all related bench operations and inspections.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, follow routers, apply basic shop math, and use basic handheld measuring tools.
  • Maintain familiarity with basic machine functions, accepting frequent supervision and assistance with regard to machine set-up.
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
Quality & Compliance
  • Detect and report defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor.
  • Inspect machined parts against drawings and routers to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Adhere to all aspects of Platinum Engineering's AS9100D / ISO9001:2015 Quality Management System (QM-001), policies, and procedures.
Equipment Maintenance & Safety
  • Perform prescribed preventative maintenance on machines as required per the P.M. charts.
  • Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean, orderly condition and follow all prescribed safety regulations.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, at all times while on the shop floor.

Education
  • High school diploma or GED required.
Experience
  • One year of factory-related experience preferred.
  • Hands-on experience operating CNC or manual machine shop equipment (milling, turning, drilling) preferred.
  • Familiarity working in a production or machine shop manufacturing environment.
Technical Skills
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and follow routers.
  • Basic shop mathematics and use of basic handheld measuring tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers).
  • Good command of the English language, both written and spoken.
Regulatory
  • U.S. citizenship or U.S. person status required to comply with ITAR export control regulations (22 CFR § 120.15).
