Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled CNC Operator-2nd Shift to join our team at Pyromation. The ideal candidate will be responsible for processing parts and raw materials on assigned machines to form complete parts or subassemblies for use by other shops or customers by setting up, programming and operating assigned machines. This position reports directly to the Group Leader and is responsible for promoting an environment of lean efficiency, continuous improvement, and support for strategic value stream goals.

Essential Functions And Responsibilities

  • Program, set up and operate assigned machines, hand tools, light power tools and other special equipment to perform assigned machining operations; may receive direction in the form of verbal or written instructions and may refer to technical drawings, catalog information or work instructions to complete assigned work.
  • Make minor adjustments to machine setups and tooling.
  • Monitor the quality of all items produced in their area by accurately using simple measurement instruments to meet product requirements.
  • Monitor the status of tooling, machinery, benches, and hardware used in the area and notify the Group Leader of any problems.
  • Maintain condition of work area and keep it free of potential hazards.
  • Maintain an organized and clean work area.
  • Perform basic cleaning and preventive maintenance checks of equipment as required or assigned.
  • Follow safety rules and wear prescribed personal protective equipment.
  • Perform any necessary documentation as assigned.
  • All other related duties as required.

Knowledge And Skills Requirement

  • Be able to work under deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Be able to effectively read and interpret written instructions including drawings, catalog information and work instructions relating to their assigned area.
  • Have working knowledge of G-code, M-code and possess CAM programming skills.
  • Be able to effectively perform basic math calculations related to their assigned area.
  • Possess good hand to eye coordination and dexterity.
  • Follow keys to team interaction.
  • Effective communication/interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
  • Able to give constructive feedback and coaching to peers. Open to receiving feedback from others.
  • Must be able to read a tape measure and other machining measuring instruments.
  • Must have the ability to read and understand written instructions, including drawings, catalog information, work instructions, tags, etc.
  • Strong basic math calculation skills

Education And Experience Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent G.E.D.
  • Minimum one year experience making offsets and minor adjustments and running CNC machinery in a manufacturing environment.
