Role Description

This full‑time, on‑site CNC Milling Setup Machinist role is based at Range Precision in Blaine, MN. The CNC Milling Setup Machinist will set up CNC milling machines, interpret engineering drawings and work instructions, select tools and fixtures, and configure machine parameters for production runs and prototypes. Daily responsibilities include operating machinery to produce precision components, monitoring machining processes, performing in‑process inspections, and making adjustments to maintain tight tolerances and surface finish requirements. The role also involves routine machine maintenance, troubleshooting minor issues, documenting production information, and collaborating with team members to ensure safety, efficiency, and quality standards are consistently met.

Qualifications
  • Strong skills in machine operation and machinery handling, including safe setup, operation, and routine maintenance of CNC milling equipment.
  • Proficiency in machining and milling processes, with the ability to read blueprints, use precision measuring tools, and hold close tolerances.
  • Experience with quality control practices, including in-process inspection, final part verification, and documentation of results.
  • Previous experience as a CNC machinist or setup machinist in a precision or aerospace/defense environment is highly beneficial.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, work instructions, and GD&T; familiarity with shop math and basic trigonometry.
  • Attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and commitment to safety and continuous improvement.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or apprenticeship in machining or manufacturing is preferred.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, lift materials and tooling as required, and work effectively in a fast‑paced, production environment.
