Job summary

Barnes Aerospace in East Hartford, CT is seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to set up and operate multi-axis milling machines on aerospace parts. The role requires 3+ years of experience and the ability to read blueprints and GD&T, ensuring parts meet tight tolerances.

You will perform job changeovers, verify dimensions with micrometers and calipers, and work with minimal supervision during the shift from 3:30 pm to 12:00 am, Monday through Friday.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience setting up and operating CNC multi-axis Milling machines.
  • Experience setting up and changing over jobs on CNC equipment.
  • Strong mathematical ability and mechanical aptitude.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills with the ability to work collaboratively.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate complex milling jobs with minimal supervision ensuring parts conform to specifications and requirements.
  • Make necessary modifications or adjustments.
  • Read and understand standard and geometric tolerances on blueprints and work instructions/operations sheets.
  • Verify dimensions using micrometers, depth gauges, height gauges and dial calipers.
  • Hold tight tolerances associated with the machining of precision parts.
  • Work from established practices and overhaul manual instructions and procedures to prepare parts for subsequent operations.

  • 3+ years of experience setting up and operating CNC multi-axis Milling machines, working on parts 12 inches or over in diameter preferably in an aerospace environment.
  • Experience setting up and changing over jobs on CNC equipment.
  • Exceptional mechanical ability and strong mathematical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and problem-solving ability with demonstrated ability to work collaboratively to solve complex issues.
