Job summary

Barnes is seeking an experienced CNC machinist to support aerospace precision work. You will run 3-, 4-, and 5-axis milling and turning machines, set up tools, read engineering sheets, and verify tolerances with precision gauges.

Expect to work Monday through Friday, 7:00am to 3:30pm, in a team-based environment focused on quality, safety, and continuous learning. A high school diploma is required and experience with Fanuc controls is a plus.

Qualifications

• 5+ years aerospace/high-precision manufacturing experience.
• 3+ years CNC multi-axis milling experience.
• Experience setting up and changing over CNC jobs.

Responsibilities

• Operate 3, 4 and 5 axis milling and turning machines.
• Run multiple machines simultaneously where possible.
• Work with hard metals such as Inconel, Titanium and Stainless Steel.
• Read operation sheets and interpret symbols in English.
• Proficient in mathematics and use of a calculator.
• Load parts onto fixtures and hoists for machine loading.
• Read CNC Programs at the machine and set up tools.

Your Expertise:

• 5+ years of experience in an aerospace or high precision manufacturing environment preferred.
• 3+ years of experience operating CNC multi-axis Milling machine preferred.
• Experience setting up and changing over jobs on CNC equipment.
• Exceptional mechanical ability and strong mathematical skills.
• Excellent communication skills and problem-solving ability with demonstrated ability to work collaboratively to solve complex issues.

Your Challenge:

• Ability to run 3, 4 and 5 axis milling and/or turning machines
• Must be willing to run multiple machines simultaneously where possible/feasible as most machines are part of manufacturing cells/machining centers
• Ability to work with hard metals such as Inconel, Titanium and Stainless Steel
• Ability to read English and interpret symbols on operation sheets
• Must be proficient in mathematics and be able to use a calculator
• Ability to use Fanuc controls and make offsets as required by the program
• Ability to load part onto a fixture
• Ability to load parts and fixtures onto hoists and operate hoist to load part onto machine
• Ability to read and interpret CNC Programs at the machine
• Must be able to read tool sheets and set up tools for use on a job or part
• Ability to use precision measuring tools such as gauges, swing gauges, calipers, and micrometers
• Familiarity with operation of Right-Angle Heads
• Must have Geometric Dimension and Tolerancing knowledge
• Must possess the ability to work within tight tolerances such as thousandths

Education Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
