Job description

Our Mazak 5-axis lines are the backbone of our missile component production, and the backlog is growing. We need machinists who can step onto the floor, own their spindle time, and keep conforming parts moving -- whether you are building the fundamentals at Level I or running complex 5-axis setups independently at Level II.

What You Will Own
The Work That Needs Doing

Our Mazak 5-axis lines are the backbone of our missile component production, and the backlog is growing. We need machinists who can step onto the floor, own their spindle time, and keep conforming parts moving -- whether you are building the fundamentals at Level I or running complex 5-axis setups independently at Level II.

What You Will Own
  • Operate assigned CNC machines (Vertical Mills, Lathes, Swiss Lathes, Mazak 5-axis horizontals) safely and independently, contributing clean, documented spindle hours every shift
  • Read prints, router sheets, and traveler work instructions accurately; perform in-process inspection using calipers, micrometers, and bore gauges; log results and downtime codes correctly
  • At Level I: recognize tool wear signs and flag them before failure; escalates any out-of-tolerance condition immediately and correctly, every time
  • At Level II: independently troubleshoot chatter, tool life drops, and dimensional drift using a logical sequence; hold tolerances in the +/-.0005" range while accounting for thermal drift and machine-specific behavior
  • Catch potential nonconformances before they become MRB events -- zero containment events from operator error is the baseline, not a stretch goal
  • At Level II: actively mentor a Level I machinist on your machine
What We Make and Why It Matters

Delva Tool & Machine is an AS9100 Rev D certified precision machine shop in Cinnaminson, NJ. We produce aerospace and defense components -- held to tolerances of +/-.0002" across aluminum, titanium, stainless steel, and tool steels. This is not a job shop turning generic parts. Our facility runs two shifts across 17 machines in D1 alone, including Mazak 5-axis horizontals with robotic loaders and automated pallet systems. The work is demanding, the standards are real, and the components end up in defense systems that have to perform.

What You Bring
Required (Level I):
  • High School Diploma, GED, Trade/Vocational Certificate, or equivalent work experience
  • Ability to operate CNC machine tools safely and follow traveler work instructions
  • Basic measurement skills: calipers, micrometers, gauges
  • Attention to detail and willingness to ask when something does not look right
Required (Level II):
  • 3+ years of relevant CNC machining experience
  • High School Diploma, GED, Trade/Vocational Certificate, Associate's Degree, or equivalent
  • Proven ability to interpret GD&T, set up 5-axis or multi-axis jobs independently, and troubleshoot dimensional issues without guesswork
  • Demonstrated track record of zero MRB events from operator error
Nice to Have (either level):
  • Experience on Mazak 5-axis horizontals or DMU-style machines
  • Eurotech lathe experience (active plus -- we are expanding those lines)
  • Background in aerospace or defense manufacturing; familiarity with AS9100 quality systems
  • Comfort with rotary/tilt axis offset strategy and bonus tolerance calculation
Pay and Benefits

$20.00 - $30.00/hr ($41,600 - $62,400/yr), based on experience and level. We offer medical, dental, and vision coverage, 401(k) with company match, and paid time off. Delva runs two shifts -- let us know your preference when you apply.
