Job summary

Torrey Holistics is seeking a CNC Mill Machinist to set up, fixture, and run CNC milling machines to produce precision parts. You will read blueprints and specifications, select tooling, and adjust parameters for optimal performance while maintaining a safe, organized work area.

You will inspect in-process and finished parts with calipers and micrometers, document results, and support continuous improvement initiatives in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

  • Set up, fixture, and operate CNC milling machines.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and specifications for part manufacture.
  • Use precision gauging equipment for in-process and final inspection.
  • Maintain clean, safe work area and follow 5S standards.
  • Record checks and production data in ERP/Excel systems.

SummaryThe CNC Mill Machinist is responsible for set-up, operation, In-process inspections and troubleshooting of CNC milling machines to produce precision parts that meet customer specifications and quality standards. This role supports machining processes from setup through final inspection while contributing to continuous improvement in a manufacturing environment.Safety, HS&E, and Compliance:•Enforce company safety policies and promote a strong safety culture.•Ensure PPE usage, safety training participation, near-miss reporting, and monthly safety inspections.•Maintain OSHA and EPA compliance across assigned operations.Essential Duties and Responsibilities•Set up, fixture, and operate CNC milling machines.•Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to manufacture parts accurately.•Select appropriate tooling and adjust machine parameters to ensure optimal performance.•Perform routine troubleshooting and make necessary machine adjustments during production.•Measure and inspect in process and finished parts using precision gauging equipment such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and indicators.•Verify product quality and ensure conformance to specifications.•Maintain proper documentation of machining operations as required.•Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized work area (5S standards).•Assist in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and reduce costs.Documentation & Reporting•Record production checks, inspection results, and issues in Excel or ERP systems (Invex).•Maintain accurate data for Recorded time to a job, traceability, scrap tracking, and production reporting.•Communicating defects, delays, or equipment concernsAdditional Responsibilities•Perform basic material handling, including loading/unloading parts.•Clean and prepare parts after machining.•Support inventory handling and part staging as needed.•Assist with basic inspection processes and packaging of finished goods.Skills & Abilities:•Strong understanding of CNC milling processes.•Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.•Solid shop math skills, including working with fractions, decimals, and metric/imperial conversions.•Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.•Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Work Ethic•Reliable, self-motivated, and production-driven mindset•Takes ownership of tasks and work areaCommunication & Teamwork•Effective communication with operators, leads, and support teams•Ability to work cross-functionally across multiple departmentsEducation & Experience:•High School Diploma or GED Required•2 years of CNC machining experience preferred.Physical Requirements•Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.•Frequent handling tools and parts.•Good vision, including close-up focus, required for inspection work.Work Environment•Manufacturing shop environment.•Exposure to moving machinery, noise, and metalworking conditions.You should be proficient in:CNC ToolingTroubleshooting SkillsG-CodeTape Measure ReadingM-CodeCNC Machine Setup & ChangeoverPrecision Measurement & Hand MetrologyManual Machining SkillsMachines & technologies you'll use:CNC Mill (5+ axis VMC) (Mazak, Haas, Okuma)
