Job summary

Torrey Holistics is seeking a skilled machinist to set up and operate CNC mills, produce precision metallic components from blueprints, and collaborate with engineering and production teams. The role emphasizes strict adherence to quality and safety, with a focus on maintaining tight tolerances.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of manufacturing experience, proficiency in G-code/M-code, and experience with Fanuc or Haas controls.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of manufacturing experience.
  • Ability to edit programs for CNC equipment and follow instructions.
  • Strong blueprint reading for machining diameters, surfaces and shapes.

Responsibilities

  • Sets up and operates conventional and special purpose machines to fabricate metallic parts.
  • Studies blueprints, drawings, manuals, specifications or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece and setup requirements.
  • Measures, marks and scribes dimensions and reference points on material or work piece as guides for subsequent machining.
  • Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow and depth and angle of cut.
  • Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations; performs routine equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.

Principal Responsibilities:Core Responsibilities:Sets up and operates conventional and special purpose machines to fabricate metallic partsApplies knowledge of machine shop theory and procedures, shop mathematics, machinability of materials and layout techniquesStudies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations and set up requirementsMeasures, marks and scribes dimensions and reference points on material or work piece as guides for subsequent machiningSelects, aligns and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories and materials on machine, such as saws, mills, grinding, burning and drilling equipmentCalculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors, such as speed, feed, coolant flow and depth and angle of cutStarts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out of tolerance machining and adjusts machine controls as requiredSets up and operates machine on a trial run to verify accuracy of machine settingsVerifies dimensions using measuring instruments, such as micrometers, height gauges and gauge blocksMay develop specifications from general descriptions and draw sketch of part or product to be fabricatedMay confer with engineers, production personnel or others to resolve machining or assembly problemsMaintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.**Scope of Position: **This role is responsible for setting up, operating, and adjusting machining equipment to produce precise metallic components according to blueprints and specifications.
