This position works closely with Engineering, Quality, Tooling, and Production to ensure all products are manufactured in accordance with customer requirements, engineering specifications, and AS Aerospace quality standards.The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience programming, setting up and troubleshooting CNC mills and lathes in a high-precision manufacturing environment and be capable of independently developing machining processes, selecting tooling, troubleshooting manufacturing issues, and improving overall productivity is a crucial part of the daily tasks. The successful candidate must demonstrate a strong understanding of aerospace manufacturing requirements, close-tolerance machining, and continuous improvement principles.Daily tasks:Program, set up, and operate CNC mills and lathes to manufacture aerospace fasteners, tooling, fixtures.Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, specifications, work instructions, and customer requirements.Develop machining processes, tooling strategies, setup sheets, and program documentation for new and existing products.Select cutting tools, work holding, fixtures, and machining methods to achieve quality, efficiency, and cost objectives.Perform machine setups, first article inspections, and process validations prior to production release.Troubleshoot machining, tooling, programming, and quality issues to minimize downtime and maintain production schedules.Optimize cycle times, tool life, and machine utilization while maintaining product quality requirements.Perform program edits and process improvements to improve productivity and reduce manufacturing costs.Verify dimensional compliance using precision measuring equipment including micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, height gauges, thread gauges, optical comparators, and other inspection instruments.Maintain compliance with all AS Aerospace quality procedures and manufacturing standards.Support First Article Inspection (FAI), production validation, and customer quality requirements.Collaborate with Engineering to improve manufacturability and develop efficient machining solutions.Assist in the design, fabrication, and maintenance of tooling, fixtures, and production support equipment.Monitor tooling performance and recommend improvements to increase tool life and machining efficiency.Communicate machine maintenance concerns and equipment issues to supervision and maintenance personnel.Train and mentor operators and setup personnel on machining processes, tooling, and best practices.Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, delivery, and productivity.Maintain accurate production records, setup documentation, and program revisions.Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and housekeeping requirements.Perform other duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications:High School Diploma or GED required.Certificate or degree in Machining Technology, Manufacturing Technology, CNC Programming, or related field preferred.Minimum 5 years of CNC programming and setup experience in a precision manufacturing environment.Experience with both CNC milling and CNC turning operations.Aerospace manufacturing experience strongly preferred.Experience manufacturing aerospace fasteners, precision machined components, tooling, or similar products preferred.Proficiency with CAD/CAM software and CNC machine controls.Strong understanding of G-Code programming and machine setup procedures.Experience with tight-tolerance machining and precision inspection methods.Familiarity with AS9100 and aerospace quality requirements preferred.Working Conditions: Standing and walking to monitor several machines.
