Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer- CNC in Pontiac, IL to provide daily hands-on engineering support for a precision CNC machining operation producing very small, high-tolerance components.

The role emphasizes extensive shop-floor activity, collaboration with machinists and engineers, and driving process improvements while maintaining accurate documentation. A degree in engineering and CAD experience are required.

Qualifications

• 5-7 years of manufacturing engineering experience.
• Proven experience working in a CNC machining environment, supporting production of precision components.
• Strong hands-on experience on the shop floor.
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot manufacturing issues and implement process improvements.
• Familiarity with GD&T and applying it to drawings and inspection criteria.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily, hands-on manufacturing engineering support to CNC machining operations, focusing on very small, high-precision components.
• Spend about 75% of time on the shop floor and 25% in the office, collaborating with production staff to resolve issues in real time.
• Troubleshoot problems, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to improve quality, throughput, and reliability.
• Develop and implement process improvements and changes to enhance efficiency and maintain tight tolerances.
• Support setup, optimization, and ongoing production of small components in a high-tolerance environment.
