Job summary

VDL Industries Gainesville is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer - Machining to serve as the technical SME for CNC milling, turning, and secondary operations. You will lead machining projects from quotation review through NPI, production launch, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing/Mechanical/Industrial Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 5 years experience developing and optimizing machining applications and processes.
• Proficient with CAM software including Mastercam or equivalent.
• Experience developing CNC programs, machining strategies, and process improvements.
• Strong understanding of machining processes, cutting tools, workholding, speeds and feeds, and GD&T.

Responsibilities

• Act as machining SME for CNC milling, turning, drilling, tapping, and secondary operations.
• Lead NPI reviews and establish manufacturing requirements and process strategies.
• Review drawings, tolerances, and specifications to determine manufacturing requirements.
• Apply DfM to improve machinability, reduce cost, and increase efficiency.
• Develop and optimize machining processes, tooling, cutting parameters, and work-holding.
• Design fixtures, jigs, tooling, gauges, and other aids for production.
• Collaborate with programmers and operators to improve setup times and tool life.
• Support prototype builds, process validation, and readiness reviews.
• Investigate defects and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Lead continuous improvement to reduce cycle times, scrap, and waste.
