Job summary

Walter Tools, Greer, SC, seeks an experienced Maintenance Engineer to optimize uptime of CNC grinding machines and supporting equipment used in drill manufacturing and reconditioning. Duties include developing PM/PdM/RCM programs, leading RCA, and improving maintenance processes. Strong CMMS, SAP, Power BI, and Lean TPM experience preferred.

On-site role with cross-functional collaboration. The engineer will apply predictive and preventive maintenance, oversee spares, and ensure safety

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering; 5+ years of hands-on maintenance engineering in a precision manufacturing environment.
• 3–5+ years of maintenance or reliability engineering in CNC machining or precision manufacturing.
• Hands-on knowledge of CNC grinding machines; experience with ANCA, Rollomatic, or Reinecker platforms is a strong advantage.
• Strong working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and coolant systems.
• Experience with CMMS for maintenance planning, work-order management, and reporting.
• Familiarity with RCA tools, FMEA and reliability-centered maintenance (RCM).
• Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools such as Excel, Power BI; SAP a plus.
• Strong communication skills in English; hands-on, on-floor presence.
• Lean or TPM experience; CMPR credential a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and continuously improve PM, PdM, and RCM programs for CNC grinding machines and facility equipment.
• Manage condition-monitoring programs (vibration, thermography, oil analysis, ultrasound) to detect degradation.
• Lead corrective maintenance and reliability initiatives; collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve OEE.
• Provide technical support for installation, modification, and relocation of equipment; create supporting documentation.
• Collaborate with operators and process engineers to address machine-related quality or performance issues.
• Monitor and report maintenance KPIs (OEE, MTBF, MTTR, maintenance cost per machine); support data-driven decisions.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, ISO 9001/14001/45001; lead EHS audits and LOTO procedures.
