Job summary

Sulzer is seeking a Jr. Machine Operator to support CNC machining operations under supervision in our U.S. facility. You will assist with CNC lathe, drill, mill and machining center tasks, ensuring parts meet specifications through accurate measurement and tool setup.

This entry-level role emphasizes on-the-job learning, adherence to safety and LEAN/EHS practices, and opportunities to grow within a global engineering company.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 3 years minimum machining experience.
• English language proficiency (written and oral).
• Ability to learn CNC programs.
• Willingness to work onsite.

Responsibilities

• Operate CNC machines (lathe, drill, mill, machining center) under supervision.
• Select, align and secure fixtures, tools and materials on machines.
• Measure dimensions and reference points for machining.
• Detect malfunctions and adjust machine controls as needed.
• Deburr parts and ensure quality before next stage.
• Operate forklift and overhead crane when required.
• Adhere to safety, LEAN and EHS policies.

This entry-level role supports production by performing basic tasks and learning to operate equipment safely and efficiently. This job profile is intended for entry-level support staff who follow specific instructions and procedures, with supervision provided for non-routine situations. Tasks can be carried out after basic training or demonstration.SUMMARY: Under the direction of a supervisor is responsible for the quality of parts produced on CNC machines such as CNC lathe, CNC drill, CNC mill, or CNC machining center to perform operations within the capability of the machine.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:· Selects, aligns and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments,accessories and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, jig bores, grindersand shapers.· Measures and marks dimensions and reference points on material or work pieceas guides for subsequent machining.· Observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out of tolerance machiningand adjusts machine controls or control media as required.· Responsible for deburring own parts before moving parts to the next stage.· Ability to operate a forklift and overhead crane proficiently.· Ability to communicate in English (both written and oral) as it relates to the job.· Regular and reliable attendance· Supports, cooperates with, and participates in company-wide LEAN and EHSmanagement system which includes following all safety, health and environmentalpolicies and procedures.
