Job summary

Sulzer in Chattanooga, TN is seeking a skilled machinist to set up and operate machine tools, read drawings, and produce precision parts to customer and OEM standards. Experience with HBM, VBM, lathes, milling, grinders, planers, and bore is valued.

Candidates should have five years of machining experience and an apprentice program, with the ability to hold close tolerances and inspect components. Safe handling of cranes and forklifts is required.

Join our global team to grow your expertise and develop innovative solutions that enable a prosperous and more sustainable society.# About the roleSet up and operate machine tools, including HBM, VBM, lathes, milling machines, ID/OD grinders, planers, and bore, without assistance, following department policy and procedures manual, to manufacture and recondition component parts to customer, OEM and industry standards. Interprets mechanical drawings, blueprints, and sketches and performs precision metal cutting, grinding, shaping and fitting. Measures components, parts, and raw materials with precision measuring instruments, gauges, and tools. Works under limited supervision.* Performs layouts, sets up, and operates machines.* Read and interpret procedures, work orders, and technical drawings to meet specifications.* Apply knowledge of metals and alloys, including stainless and carbon steels.* Improves set ups and methods for higher quality and improved cost.* Operate overhead crane and forklifts safely as directed by Supervisor.
