Job summary

Donaldson in Stevens Point, WI is seeking a Machinist Trainee to operate CNC equipment, inspect parts, and support setup and maintenance while training in blueprint reading and precision measurement. This hands-on role emphasizes safe work practices and continuous learning.

The position offers a 3rd shift (10:00 PM – 6:00 AM) with overtime as needed. Starting pay is $24.68 per hour, plus a $0.45 shift differential for 2nd and 3rd shifts, and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Basic shop math and mechanical aptitude.
• Willingness to learn and follow safety rules.
• Ability to stand and lift up to 65 lbs. occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Operate CNC machining equipment: Load raw materials and unload finished parts while following safety rules.
• Monitor Production: Watch machine cycles to spot errors, unusual noises, and tool wear.
• Inspect for Quality: measure finished parts using gauges, micrometers and calipers and other precision instruments.
• Learn Setup & Maintenance: Assist with basic machine adjustments, changing tooling, cleaning metal chips, changing coolant, and routine upkeep.
• Learn troubleshooting of equipment and process issues, perform preventive maintenance.
• Learn to Read Blueprints: Study basic technical drawings and work orders to understand part requirement.
• Maintains a pattern of regular attendance and is able to work overtime and weekends if required.
