Job summary

Donaldson Company in Stevens Point, WI is seeking a Machinist Trainee to support CNC operations, inspect parts, and assist with setup and maintenance. The role emphasizes hands-on training in blueprint reading and precision measurement while promoting safety and continuous learning.

Second shift hours are 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM, with OT including Saturdays as needed. Starting pay is $24.68/hr plus a $0.45/hr shift differential for 2nd/3rd shifts, with probationary training possibly on 1st shift.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Basic shop math skills are required.
• Mechanical aptitude is expected.
• Fundamental computer literacy is required.
• Willingness to learn and follow written and oral instructions.

Responsibilities

• Operate CNC machining equipment: Load raw materials and unload finished parts while following safety rules.
• Monitor machine cycles to spot errors, unusual noises, and tool wear.
• Inspect finished parts using gauges, micrometers, calipers and other precision tools.
• Learn setup and maintenance: assist with basic adjustments, tooling changes, coolant, and cleanup.
• Troubleshoot equipment and process issues; perform preventive maintenance.
• Read blueprints and work orders to understand part requirements.
• Maintain regular attendance and be able to work overtime and weekends if required.
