Job summary
Hitachi Energy in Alamo, TN seeks a Machinist Team Lead for weekend nights to guide setup, operation, and optimization of CNC equipment in a high-mix, low-volume shop. You will support production of transformer components, ensure safety, meet schedules, and drive daily performance improvements.
You will lead multi-axis turn-mill and horizontal machining centers, optimize tooling, monitor quality and cycle time, and coach the team in standard work and continuous improvement in a tech-forward
Qualifications
- 5+ years in CNC machine shop.
- Experience with multi-axis turn-mill, turning centers and horizontal machining centers.
- Ability reading blueprints and GD&T.
- Experience with Mazak/Mazatrol/DMG Mori/CELOS/Mitsubishi controls.
- Commitment to safety, quality, standard work, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Guide team members in the setup and operation of Mazak and DMG Mori multi-axis turn-mill centers and CNC lathes.
- Support robot-integrated turn-mill systems to improve productivity, consistency, and safe operation.
- Operate horizontal machining centers with pallet pool systems for efficient production flow.
- Complete tooling setup, offsets, fixture alignment, and related machine adjustments.
- Monitor machining performance and adjust processes to support quality, cycle time, and efficiency.
- Set clear expectations for safety, 5S, schedule compliance, output, and resource use.
- Coach team members on standard work, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement practices.
