Job summary

WPI in Oklahoma City seeks a skilled Machinist to program, set up, adjust and operate manual and CNC machines (CNC lathes and mills) per engineering drawings. You will develop programs from blueprints, set up tooling, and ensure parts meet tolerances through careful inspection and measurement.

Role requires at least 4 years of experience, GED or HS diploma, and familiarity with Fanuc, Mazatrol, Tosnuc and G&A controls. Weekend hours optional; strong attention to safety and quality is essential.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of machining practices and techniques.
• Basic mechanical principles necessary.
• Shop mathematics skills required.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
• Experience with precision measuring tools and procedures.
• Knowledge of Fanuc, Mazatrol, Tosnuc and G&A CNC controls.
• Forklift operation experience is a plus.
• Familiarity with boring machines is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Reads blueprints, sketches, drawings and specifications for work to be performed.
• Samples parts to determine critical dimensions and tolerances, sequence of operations and setup requirements.
• Creates programs from CNC machine tools based on engineering drawings.
• Selects and sets up machines, tools, fixtures and attachments to produce parts per blueprint.
• Operates multiple CNC machining and turning centers to produce high-quality parts.
• Monitors production to ensure tolerance adherence and quality.
• Inspects own work at setup stages using precision measuring tools.
• Maintains safe work area and completes required paperwork.
