CNC Machinist Sales and Application Engineer

Location: Employee can be located in or near Chatsworth, CA (Ventura, Thousand Oaks, Simi Valley)

Job Summary: Kennametal is seeking talented machinists and programmers looking to transition their career off the floor into a professional sales role. If you have experience in machining or CNC programming, we are interested in speaking with you! This position involves driving metal-cutting tool sales, managing customer relationships, providing technical support, and increasing productivity. The role combines technical knowledge with sales skills to meet targets, build territory presence, and support customer initiatives. It is based from a home office but involves 80% or more fieldwork. A company vehicle, competitive salary, bonus, and benefits are provided.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Meet or exceed revenue targets by providing metal cutting solutions and understanding market trends.
  • Manage sales leads, prospects, and customer accounts.
  • Handle the complete sales process from prospecting to negotiations.
  • Develop strategic territory plans to achieve revenue goals.
  • Respond to pre-sales technical and commercial queries.
  • Maintain customer and project records in CRM.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to enhance customer experience.
  • Conduct product demonstrations and workshops.
  • Represent Kennametal at trade shows and events.
  • Analyze complex application needs and recommend tooling solutions.
  • Prepare and present reports on progress and forecasts.

Requirements:

  • Technical degree or equivalent work experience in Business, Manufacturing, or Engineering preferred.
  • 3+ years in CNC machining industry.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
  • Proficient in product applications and troubleshooting.
  • Strong industry knowledge and customer-focused approach.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and administrative skills.
  • Detail-oriented and strategic thinker.
  • Team player capable of working across departments.

Compensation: $71,000 - $90,000 annually plus performance-based bonus.
