Job summary

Merrimac Tool Company in Amesbury, MA, has an immediate opening for a CNC Machinist/Programmer. You will own parts from start to finish, selecting tooling, running first articles, inspecting, and making adjustments to meet tolerances.

Requires a high school diploma or equivalent, at least 3 years of CNC milling experience (including 4-axis), and proficiency with calipers, micrometers, and gauges. Mastercam experience is a plus in ISO 9001 environments.

Responsibilities

• Own parts from start to finish: select tooling, run first article, inspect, and adjust to hold tolerances.

• Produce adequate volume of work efficiently and on time.

Merrimac Tool Company | Amesbury, MA | Full-time + overtime available

Dependent on experience

Monday through Thursday 6:00am to 4:30pm

Friday 6:00am to 12:00pm. Off at noon on Fridays.

Merrimac Tool Company has an immediate opening for a CNC Machinist/Programmer. We have been in business for over 30 years! We have a great team here and we're looking to expand our shop. Our ideal candidate is experienced, reliable, pays attention to detail, follows instructions, and is a team player.

The Work

• You will own your parts from start to finish. Select and set up the tooling for the job, run the first article to verify proper and safe operation, inspect it fully, and make the adjustments needed to hold dimensional requirements. From setup through deburring and final inspection, the part is yours.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to health and safety regulations
• Select correct programs, set up tools, prove out the run for new and repeat jobs
• Develop fixtures and work-holding for machining unique components
• Produce an adequate volume of work in an efficient, timely manner

• Perform other varying duties: updating records, basic machine maintenance, troubleshooting production issues

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• 3 years minimum experience
• Experience in setup and operation of vertical CNC milling machines, including 4-axis
• Proficiency with handheld measurement tools: calipers, micrometers, gauges
• Understanding of production, machining, and inspection procedures
• Strong understanding of standard tolerancing and GD&T, ability to read prints
• Ability to work both individually as well as on a team

Preferred

• Ability to program using Mastercam
• 5-Axis setup / programming
• Lathe setup / programming
• Experience in an ISO 9001 environment or similar
