Job summary

Aerotek is seeking a motivated CNC Machine Operator in Peoria, IL, for a contract-to-hire role. This position operates CNC lathes and mills in a family-oriented manufacturing environment to produce precision parts while maintaining high quality.

You will read work orders, set up and run equipment, inspect parts during production, and make basic adjustments to ensure accuracy and efficiency. Expect lifting, bending, and collaboration with a team in a fully onsite plant.

Qualifications

• 15 years of CNC machining experience in mills, lathes, or machining centers.
• Hands-on experience operating CNC lathes or mills in production environments.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints for dimensions and tolerances.
• Proficiency with micrometers, calipers, and other quality tools.
• Basic mechanical aptitude to learn machine adjustments and troubleshooting.
• Ability to follow detailed work orders and production documentation.
• Physical ability to bend, lift, and reach into large tubs during shifts.

Responsibilities

• Operate CNC lathes and mills to machine parts per work orders and production requirements.
• Interpret and follow detailed work orders, punching in for each job and tracking steps.
• Select parts from large tubs, machine, and return finished parts while lifting as needed.
• Learn and perform basic adjustments to CNC machines for accuracy and consistency.
• Grind parts to remove flares and smooth edges to meet quality and safety standards.
• Check part quality between cycles using measuring tools and techniques.
• Use micrometers, calipers, and other tools to verify dimensions and tolerances.
• Read blueprints to understand part specifications and machining requirements.
• Maintain workflow by taking initiative and meeting production demands.
• Follow safety procedures and use hand tools correctly.
• Perform basic machine set-ups and adjustments as needed.
• Collaborate with team to address production issues and improve processes.
• Keep the work area clean, organized, and compliant with plant standards.
