Job summary

Bowhead is hiring a Machinist to support the NSWCDD Dahlgren Division, VA. The role involves programming and operating CNC lathes and mills, setting up tools and fixtures, and ensuring tight tolerances per DoD drawings.

Training on SolidWorks and CAMWorks is offered, with government-provided tools. The position requires at least 3 years in CNC machining, ability to read drawings, and proficiency with common measurement tools.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• At least 3 years of professional CNC milling and lathe experience.
• Ability to draw and program using CAD/CAM software.
• Proficient with Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Ability to read and interpret machinist drawings.
• Experience with precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers).
• English reading/writing/speaking required.

Responsibilities

• Program and operate CNC lathes and mills; set up tools and fixtures.
• Monitor and measure parts to tight tolerances.
• Work with Haas, Fadal, or ProtoTrak machines in daily use.
• Follow DoD drawings and inspect parts with calipers and micrometers.
